Bajazzo

Continuing its planned breeding program, Touchstone Farm imported this outstanding Oldenburg Stallion in May of 1993. BAJAZZO was selected on the strength of his pedigree to meet the requirements for a tall, athletic horse with dryness of bone and good trainability. The combination of his sire Barsoi, contributing the refinement, a tremendous gallop and length of stride, and his dam, Grandella, from the famous Hanoverian line of Grande, contributing dressage and jumping talent, are proving to be perfect for the next generation of young performance prospects.

Performance:
BAJAZZO successfully completed the Stallion Test in 1983, receiving his highest marks for character, trainability, jumping, trot and especially walk. Shortly after he was sold through the prestigious PSI SALE to an amateur owner under whom he was competed successfully in all three disciplines, three day event, jumping and dressage.

Offspring:
BAJAZZO was been used very sparingly as a sire, due to his previous owners' competitive activities. Inspite of this he has already had one son, Bellini, who followed in his footsteps to the PSI SALE, Nov. 29, 1992, selling as a top dressage prospect. His first foals in Canada are very elegant and refined, and show exceptional athletic promise, especially as jumpers. At the Northern Alberta division Foal Futurity his foals have been first and second in 1996 and 1997.

His sire Barsoi xx produced many top competition and sale horses for the Hanoverian and Oldenburg registries. His Hanoverian great grand sire, the legendary Grande has of course produced his own well-known line of jumping and dressage horses which include the famous Stallions Grandeur and Grannus.

BEAU SOLEIL

BEAU SOLEIL is a remarkable stallion. From his beginning as a foal futurity winner, to becoming 1999 Stallion Licensing Co-Champion, he has been marked for success. An extremely attractive bright chestnut horse, he has size and elegance with a wonderful expression. He matches his good looks with superior athletic ability both in his excellent gaits and his tremendous jumping ability.

A Canadian bred stallion, his pedigree proves beyond doubt the top bloodlines present in our breeding stock. The famous Hanoverian G line of Goldfisch II is represented on both sides; once through Grande and once through Gotthard. The legendary blood of Abglanz is also found through his maternal grandsire Abrupt. His direct sire, Bajazzo, is sire of three licensed stallions and has been leading money sire twice at the Fall Breeders Classic Sale.

BEAU SOLEIL was top three year old stallion at the inaugural CWHBA Stallion Performance Test in 2000 after a busy first breeding season covering well over 30 mares with an incredible 90% conception rate per cycle. His first foal crop produced the Alberta Foal Futurity Champion Northern Division. His pre potency as a sire is already established with the elegance and excellent conformation and movement of his offspring.

He produces wonderful heads and necks and foals from lighter mares are showing good substance and size. We have watched his offspring in the pasture and over small obstacles and they clearly exhibit great athletic talent.

BEACH BOY

Touchstone Farm Ltd. has acquired the elite stallion Beach Boy from the Flyinge National Stud in Sweden. Born in 1983 in Holland, Beach Boy is by the internationally famous Selle Francais, Zeus (Nurzeus) whose offspring have earned more than 3.5 million DM and out of the Dutch Warmblood mare Sefane by the equally famous Lucky Boy XX. His impressive jumping pedigree has been confirmed by his performance and his breeding results both in Germany and Sweden.

Oldenburg licensed and tested in 1986 in Medingen Germany, BEACH BOY placed 6 out of 52 stallions with 127.01 index, 5th in jumping with 127.91 and 15th in dressage with 113.20. In Germany he has six approved sons and 122 competition horses of which 16 are in upper level jumping and one in upper level dressage. Offspring earnings in Germany to date are over 200,000DM. Beyond Germany he has internationally ranked competitors in jumping and three day eventing such as Beach Game, Beach Star, Major Tom and Rabbisch. Since moving to Sweden he has claimed a top echelon placing. He is the only stallion in Sweden to have an equally high BLUP index of 141 for both jumping and gaits, which added to an index for conformation of 128 gives him a total BLUP index of 137. Of 117 offspring in competition in Sweden, 25 are already in the medium to upper level sport and he has at least one approved Swedish born son, Billy Boy.

In terms of his suitability for Canada and North America, BEACH BOY is a very refined individual with conformation scores of 8s and 9s. Standing 170 cm (16.3h) he is a model hunter with great gaits and spectacular jumping technique. His breeding is limited to fresh semen and since his semen does not transport or freeze, his offspring are in limited supply. This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire international caliber horses from one of the most beautiful and athletic stallions Europe has to offer. EXCALIBUR

EXCALIBUR is an elegant and refined young stallion with good gaits and superlative jumping style and scope (9 for jumping). He is sired by the Champion Hanoverian Stallion Escudo I, who’s performance and offspring in Germany are creating a sensation in the jumper ring. In 2001 Escudo I’s offspring were first and second in the Hanoverian Championships for Four year old jumpers, high selling horse in their Summer Auction and he again produced several licensed stallions. EXCALIBUR’s dam, descended from the legendary Furioso II, is half sister to Zanzibar II 1998 CWHBA licensing champion.

We are very proud of this exceptional young Canadian bred stallion. In addition to his spectacular jumping talent he possesses very exciting gaits which have been apparent since he was a weanling when he was overall Champion in the Northern Alberta open foal class.
